While this service is handled by a separate internal team at carwow, we’ve outlined the essential information below to help you manage your stock effectively.
What is carwow BuySafe?
BuySafe is a mechanical breakdown protection scheme designed to safeguard dealers against major, undisclosed faults. It is specifically intended for dealers who arrange their own transport or collect vehicles themselves.
Coverage: Up to £7,500 per claim (including VAT, parts, and labor).
Parts Covered: Approximately 3,000 components, including engine, gearbox, alternator, infotainment systems, and lighting units.
Cost: A flat fee of £59 + VAT per vehicle.
BuySafe vs. carwow Collects
It is important to distinguish which protection applies to your purchase based on your transport choice:
Use BuySafe if: You are collecting the car yourself or using your own third-party transport.
Use carwow Collects if: You want carwow to handle the appraisal and delivery. This service includes its own "Assured Scheme" protection (up to £25k) as standard, so you do not need to purchase BuySafe separately.
How to Add BuySafe to a Purchase
Timeline: You must opt-in to BuySafe within 24 hours of winning the vehicle.
Location: You can add this via your ‘Won’ folder or directly on the vehicle listing page.
Payment: The £59 + VAT fee is not deducted instantly from your Wallet; it is typically invoiced weekly in arrears alongside your standard buying fees.
Key Terms & Claims
Eligible Faults: Protection applies to major faults that were not declared by the seller. It does not cover consumables (tyres/brakes), bodywork, or glass.
Duration: The cover is active for 5 days from the point of delivery/collection.

Fast Payouts: If a claim is approved, reimbursements are typically paid out within 48 hours of a valid repair invoice being submitted.
